Leatherhead & Cobham CC are launching an exciting new Twenty20 competition this summer for local businesses and social groups. The club sees this as the perfect opportunity to develop new and further links with the local community and will run the league based competition at both its’ Fetcham Grove ground in Leatherhead and at its ground in Fairmile Lane, Cobham. The desire is to attract initially 5 or 6 local teams, with matches taking place after work on Wednesday evenings throughout the summer. The intention is for this to be a friendly competition allowing those that don’t normally get the chance to participate in cricket to experience the fun of the Twenty/20 format. We trialled a game last summer using this format and everyone who took part had a great evening. The county and international versions of the game have seen huge crowds turn up to watch and our hope is that we can translate some of that interest into finding more participants locally. To help foster a sociable environment, the bar will be open for all games with food available for players and spectators alike. With three teams already expected to take part, the club are looking for two or three more local businesses or groups of friends who would be interested in participating. The club will provide an umpire and suitable kit. If anyone would like to enter a work based team or knows anyone who works for one of the larger local business such as KBR or LogicaCMG, then please contact Jamie Mead for further information or forward this email on. Jamie can be contacted at jmead@treatmentroom.org.uk or on 07973 452446 .
